In addition to placing orders, customers are able to view current sales promotions and download marketing materials to share with prospective customers.
Once logged in, customers are routed to a dashboard that displays the customer’s account information, Superior’s current delivery lead time, real-time junk pricing for automotive, steel case and golf car batteries, and 24-hour lead market prices.
Customers will choose from the products available to them — custom label and/or Superlex branded batteries — to enter the interactive ordering form.
A purchase order number is required, and customers will select whether they want Superior to back haul junk batteries and whether they are ordering a full or partial load. Once a shipping address is selected, the customer begins entering the number of batteries they need under each battery category. The categories are collapsible, which minimizes scrolling when moving from one category to another and makes it easier to order with a tablet or smartphone.
As quantities are added, an empty truck graphic at the bottom of the screen fills, tallying the number of pounds that have been ordered and alerting the customer when they’ve exceeded the maximum weight limit or haven’t reached the minimum. An order cannot be completed until the truck weight is within the acceptable range.
“Being able to monitor truck weight during the ordering process is a huge advantage, and will significantly reduce problems in the shipping phase,” said Rodney Hart, vice president of customer service. “Our goal with this project was to provide as much control and information to the customer on the front-end as possible, alleviating any issues that could delay getting their product on time.”
Finally, customers should add any special instructions and select a shipping date for the order before placing it. They can also save their order as a draft and return later to complete it.
